ABOUT

Kaede is a koi fish who works as Princess Opal's servant and closest advisor. She has her own chambers in Aegan Castle despite stemming from a poor family.

APPEARANCE

Kaede is on the tall side, with a white body and black, orange and red splodges over her body in typical koi fashion. She has gills on the side of her neck, her flesh matching her turquoise eyes. The fins on the top and the side of her hair vaguely resembling "hair". She has a strong fish tail. Despite not having breasts she wears traditional merfolk shells on her chest. She can transform between her mermaid and legged form anytime, though when underwater is usually depicted in her mermaid form. 

CHARACTER

Kaede grew up as the eldest of several siblings, taking on a motherly role for them while their parents worked pretty much 24/7. She never got along well with her parents due to not being able to experience much of a typical childhood, though she still loves her brothers and sisters. Kaede isn't afraid to speak her mind when needed, an attitude that later gets her hired by Princess Opal - despite her dislike for any and all royal families due to being born into their riches.

Kaede is merfolk and can thus transform between mermaid and legged form anytime.

RELATIONSHIPS

- Opal

When her mother fell ill Kaede was forced to get a job. Though she taught herself to read and write she never attended school due to her many familial responsibilities, thus lacking a degree necessary to get a decent paying job. On her way to a job interview as a kitchen cleaner Kaede bumped into one of Opal's guards, who promptly hissed at her to get out of the way of Princess Opal's way - her caravan being pulled by seahorses just a few metres behind. This earns the guard a snarky response back from Opal, whose utter disrespect for the royal crown shocks both guards and bystanders. On the verge of being arrested for her insolence Opal swims over - who watched everything go down from her carriage. Amused by Opal's sassy attitude she offers her a job as her closest servant and advisor. Opal accepts, albeit reluctantly before the princess reveals that working under her will mean her family will be taken care of financially, never having to go hungry ever again.

Yuki and Kaede are friends, having met when Kaede accompanied Opal on her trip to the shore.
